In Psalms chapter eight, David speaking of man said that God, “made him a little lower than the angels, and have crowned him with glory and honor. You made him to have dominion over the works of your hands; you have put all things under his feet. All sheep and oxen, yes, and the beasts of the field”, and in chapter eight and verse eight of Psalms David referred to, “the fowl of the air, and the fish of the sea” where we read,
The fowl of the air, and the fish of the sea, and whatsoever passes through the paths of the seas.
The verse begins, “The fowl of the air, and the fish of the sea, ...” David began with the words, “the fowl of the air” which means “the bird or swallow”, “and the fish of the sea” or “and the squirming or moving fish within the large body of water such as the Mediterranean Sea”. David shared how God also gave mankind “dominion” over the birds of the air and the fish in the oceans and sea.
The verse goes on to say, “and whatsoever passes through the paths of the seas.” David continued with the words, “and whatsoever” or “and what ever thing” “passes through the paths” or “traverses, crosses over or advances and travels in the way” “of the seas” which means “belonging to the large bodies of water such as the Mediterranean Sea”. David wrote how God put mankind in charge of whatever thing advances or travels along the pathways within the “seas”.
When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we see how David declared mankind to have been granted “dominion” over birds, fish and anything within the rivers, seas and oceans. In other words, God gave people the oversight and control over His living creations. God loves people, and He desires a personal intimate relationship with everyone. He made this possible by sending His Son Jesus to die on the cross for the sins of mankind which separated people from Him. When we surrender our lives to Jesus and His authority, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and allow us to be in charge of His created things in the way that He designed. Praise be unto God who has done all things well and provided His creation, dominion and salvation to mankind through His Son Jesus.
Next time David repeats the phrase, “O LORD our Lord, how excellent is your name in all the earth!”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
