Let the Wickedness Come to an End - Psalms 7:9

In Psalms chapter seven David wrote if he were guilty of any wickedness, “Let the enemy persecute my soul, and take it; yes, let him tread down my life upon the earth, and lay my honor in the dust. Selah. Arise, O LORD, in your anger, lift up yourself because of the rage of my enemies: and awake for me to the judgment that you have commanded. So shall the congregation of the people compass you about: for their sakes therefore return you on high. The LORD shall judge the people: judge me, O LORD, according to my righteousness, and according to my integrity that is in me”, and in Psalms chapter seven and verse nine David declared, “let the wickedness of the wicked come to an end” where we read,

Oh let the wickedness of the wicked come to an end;

but establish the just: for the righteous God tries the hearts and reins.

The verse begins, “Oh let the wickedness of the wicked come to an end;” David began with the words, “Oh let the wickedness” which means “O make, permit and cause the bad, evil and wrong” “of the wicked” or “pertaining and belonging to the guilty ones or criminals” “come to an end” which means “cease, be completed, fail and exist no more”. David asked Jehovah God to stop the evil doing and wrong of guilty people and criminals.

The verse goes on to say, “but establish the just: for the righteous God tries the hearts and reins.” David continued with the words, “but establish the just” or “however, nonetheless, notwithstanding and moreover make firm, stable and fixed the lawful and righteous people”: “for the righteous God” or “because, since and account that the lawful, right, justifying and vindicating true God” “tries the hearts” which means “examines, proves and scrutinizes the souls with their passions and emotions” “and reins” or “and minds or thinking”. David desired his lawful and right God to stabilize people who are lawful and righteous as He examined the passions, emotions and thinking of them.

When we consider the words in this verse, we see how David wanted God to stop the evil that was being performed by the wicked ones, and he desired God to make the righteous people to stand. He also understood that God would be the true judge of the inner souls of people. God knows everyone, and He loves them. He sent His Son Jesus to die for the sins of all mankind, and when we submit our lives to Him, He will forgive our sins and grant us everlasting life with Him. Jesus' righteousness becomes our righteousness and we will be able to stand before Him one day. (See 2 Corinthians 5:21) Let us give Him praise, honor and glory for His righteous judgment that will be executed according to His Divine purpose and plan.

Next time David says, “my defense is of God”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
