My Defense is of God - Psalms 7:10

In Psalms chapter seven David wrote, “The LORD shall judge the people: judge me, O LORD, according to my righteousness, and according to my integrity that is in me”, and in chapter seven and verse ten of Psalms David declared, “My defense is of God” where we read,

My defense is of God, which saves the upright in heart.

The verse begins, “My defense is of God, ...” David began with the words, “My defense” which means “David's shield, buckler and protector” “is of God” or “exists toward and upon the basis of the ruler, judge, true and supreme Deity”. David shared how his protection was from God.

The verse goes on to say, “... which saves the upright in heart.” David continued with the words, “which saves” or “who rescues, delivers and gives victory to” “the upright in heart” or “the straight, correct, right and pleasing within the inner man, understanding and soul”. David wrote how God delivers and rescues the people who are correct and right in their souls.

When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we learn where David put his trust for “defense”. Though he had some power within himself, David knew God has unlimited resources. God loved David, and David loved God. Their relationship was one of intimacy that allowed David to trust the LORD whenever he needed to be rescued or delivered. God makes available a relationship with Him to every person who puts their faith and trust in His Son Jesus, and when they do, He will forgive their sins, grant them everlasting life and be their “defense” whenever opposition arises. Let us praise the LORD for His willingness to save and protect us as we yield to His Son Jesus.

Next time David says, “God is angry with the wicked every day”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

Until tomorrow…there is more…
