Preparing Instruments of Death - Psalms 7:13

In Psalms chapter seven David wrote, “My defense is of God, which saves the upright in heart. God judges the righteous, and God is angry with the wicked every day. If he turn not, he will whet his sword; he has bent his bow, and made it ready”, and in chapter seven and verse thirteen of Psalms David declared, “He has also prepared for him the instruments of death” where we read,

He has also prepared for him the instruments of death;

he ordains his arrows against the persecutors.

The verse begins, “He has also prepared for him the instruments of death;” David began with the words, “He has prepared for him” which means “He, Jehovah God, has made ready, firm and established on behalf of his own self” “the instruments” or “the articles, vessels, implements and utensils” “of death” which means “pertaining to dying and ruin”. David shared how Jehovah God established all the utensils and implements to cause “death”.

The verse goes on to say, “he ordains his arrows against the persecutors.” David continued with the words, “he ordains his arrows” or “he, God, makes, commits and practices his, God's, arrows for a bow” “against the persecutors” or “in opposition to, burning, kindled and inflamed toward the burning ones”. David wrote how God commits His “arrows” for His “bow” in opposition to the people who were against David.

When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we learn more about David's understanding of the protection and defense of God against his foes and adversaries. God is prepared to do whatever He desires against those who oppose His people. He loves everyone, and yet, if a person refuses and rejects His Son Jesus as their personal “Savior and Lord”, they become as adversaries to Him and His people. Whenever we have people who come against us, we may turn to Jesus who died for our sins to be our protection and defense, and when we give Him praise, honor and glory for being the defender and protector of our faith, He is glorified and exalted in His rightful place.

Next time David speaks of one who, “travails with iniquity”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

Until tomorrow…there is more…
