In Psalms chapter nine David wrote, “I will praise you, O LORD, with my whole heart; I will show forth all your marvelous works”, and in chapter nine and verse two of Psalms David said, “I will be glad and rejoice in you: I will sing praise to your name” where we read,
I will be glad and rejoice in you: I will sing praise to your name, O you most High.
The verse begins, “I will be glad and rejoice in you:” David began with the words, “I will be glad” which means “I, David, will rejoice, be gladdened, merry and made joyful” “and rejoice in you” or “and exult, jump for joy and triumph in you, Jehovah God”. David shared how he would “rejoice, be merry and jump for joy” over his relationship with Jehovah God.
The verse continues, “I will sing praise to your name, O you most High.” David added the words, “I will sing praise” or “I, David, will make music with my voice or play a musical instrument” “to your name” which means “toward your, Jehovah God's, reputation, fame and glory”, “O you most high” or “O you, Jehovah God, who is the Highest and Supreme God”. David wrote how he would “make music” with his voice or an instrument to give honor, glory and “praise” to Jehovah God.
When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we learn how David was so merry and joyful over his relationship with Jehovah God, that he would not only “jump for joy” but also “make music” with his voice or a musical instrument to celebrate Him. Those who come to God through His Son Jesus know what this emotion entails, and when God gave Jesus to die on the cross for the sins of the world, He made access to Him available for everyone who believes and trusts in Him. Let us “be merry, jump for joy and make music” unto the LORD God for His salvation and redemption, and as we recognize Him for the Most High and Supreme God He is, let us break out in song of celebration for our relationship with Him.
Next time David tells what will happen, “When my enemies are turned back”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
