A Reward for the Righteous - Psalms 58:11

In Psalms chapter fifty eight David said, “The righteous shall rejoice when he sees the vengeance: he shall wash his feet in the blood of the wicked”, and in chapter fifty-eight and verse eleven of Psalms David said, “a man shall say, Verily there is a reward for the righteous” where we read,

So that a man shall say, Verily there is a reward for the righteous:

verily he is a God that judges in the earth.

The verse begins, So that a man shall say, Verily there is a reward for the righteous: David began with the words, “so that a man shall say” or “the result will be that a person whether male or female will utter, declare and proclaim”, “verily there is a reward” which means “truly, surely and indeed there exists a fruit, payoff or consequence” “for the righteous” or “on behalf of people who are right, just and lawful in conduct and character”. David said the result of people who are right and just who observe Jehovah God's vengeance upon the wicked will realize there certainly exists a consequence for their behavior.

The verse goes on to say, verily he is a God that judges in the earth. David continued with the words, “verily he is a God” or “truly, surely and indeed he, Jehovah God, exists as a Divine judge, ruler and Supreme God” “that judges” which means “who governs, vindicates and punishes” “in the earth” or “within the land, country, territory, district, region and world”. David said truly Jehovah God is the Divine judge who governs over the world.

When we think through words in this verse, we see how David continued to share the reaction of the “righteous” to Jehovah God carrying out “vengeance” upon the wicked. Although it appears for a while that wicked people get away with their evil deeds and acts, God does bring justice upon them. God governs over the earth, and He knows the spiritual condition of every person. He sent His Son Jesus to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind, and when we believe and trust in Him as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and “reward” us according to His grace, mercy and love when the wicked seem to prevail.

Next time we begin a new chapter and see David say, “Deliver me from my enemies, O my God”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
