Break Their Teeth, O God - Psalms 58:6

In Psalms chapter fifty eight David said, “The wicked are estranged from the womb: they go astray as soon as they be born, speaking lies. Their poison is like the poison of a serpent: they are like the deaf adder that stops her ear. Which will not hearken to the voice of charmers, charming never so wisely”, and in chapter fifty-eight and verse six of Psalms David said, “Break their teeth, O God” where we read,

Break their teeth, O God, in their mouth: break out the great teeth of the young lions, O LORD.

The verse begins, “Break their teeth, O God, in their mouth: David began with the words, “Break their teeth” or “tear down, overthrow, destroy and utterly ruin the sharp pointed tines of the wicked”, “O God” which means “O Divine judge, ruler and Supreme God”, “in their mouth” or “within the orifice in their faces used for eating, drinking and speaking”. David desired that Jehovah God destroy the “sharpened tines” within the “mouths” of the wicked.

The verse continues, “break out the great teeth of the young lions, O LORD. David added the words, “break out the great teeth” or “pull, throw and beat down, overthrow and destroy the grinders or incisors” “of the young lions” which means “belonging to the youthful lions perhaps as covered with a mane”, “O LORD” or “O Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God”. David desired that Jehovah God would overthrow and destroy the sharp grinders belonging to the youthful lion like wicked people.

When we consider the words in this verse, we see how David wanted Jehovah God to destroy the “teeth” of the wicked people who were like youthful lions. The idea was they used them to consume and devour the righteous, and David knew Jehovah God could ruin their passion. David practiced the principle of allowing, “vengeance” to be God's, and when we turn people over to Him, He will bring ruin and destruction upon them according to His purposes and plans. (See Romans 12:19) God's wants everyone to humble themselves and receive His Son Jesus as their “Savior and Lord”, and when we do, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and be available to handle any sharpened teeth of youthful lions that come against us.

Next time David says, “Let them melt away as waters which run continually”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
