In Psalms chapter fifty seven David said, “Awake up, my glory; awake, psaltery and harp: I myself will awake early”, and in chapter fifty-seven and verse nine of Psalms David said, “I will praise you, O Lord”, where we read,
I will praise you, O Lord, among the people: I will sing unto you among the nations.
The verse begins, “I will praise you, O Lord, among the people:” David began with the words, “I will praise you” or “I, David, shall give thanks, laud, revere and worship you, Jehovah God”, “O Lord” which means “O Divine judge, ruler and Supreme God”, “among the people” or “with the compatriots, kinsmen, countrymen and human beings of the nations both male and female”. David declared that he would give thanks and worship to the Divine judge Jehovah God in the midst of the compatriots and fellow kinsmen of his nation.
The verse continues, “I will sing unto you among the nations.” David added the words, “I will sing unto you” or “I, David, shall make music with my voice to you, Divine judge, ruler and Supreme God” “among the nations” which means “with the people and community who gather”. David said he would make music with his voice in the midst of the people and community who assemble together.
When we think through the words in this verse, we see how David was determined not only to give praise and honor to the Divine judge Jehovah God, but also that he would glorify Him with worship and adoration in the midst of the “people and nation” to which he belonged. God loves to be worshiped by people who love Him, and when we realize He loved us first by sending His Son Jesus to be crucified for our sins, praise and worship should be our continual response. (See 1 John 4:19) When we submit to Jesus as our “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and give us the ability to sing songs of worship unto Him for who He is and the wonderful gifts He has given to us.
Next time David says, “your mercy is great unto the heavens”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
