In Psalms chapter fifty nine David said, “Deliver me from my enemies, O my God: defend me from them that rise up against me. Deliver me from the workers of iniquity, and save me from bloody men”, and in chapter fifty-nine and verse three of Psalms David said, “they lie in wait for my soul” where we read,
For, lo, they lie in wait for my soul:
the mighty are gathered against me; not for my transgression, nor for my sin, O LORD.
The verse begins, “For, lo, they lie in wait for my soul:” David began with the words, “For, lo” or “because, since and on account, look, behold and consider”, “they lie in wait” which means “they, the enemies of David, lurk, ambush and loiter” “for my soul” or “on behalf of my, David's, inner man, mind, will, appetite, desire, conscience and seat of emotions and passions”. David called upon Jehovah God to behold how his “enemies” were lurking and ready to ambush his inner man, mind and heart.
The verse continues, “the mighty are gathered against me; not for my transgression, nor for my sin, O LORD.” David added the words, “the mighty are gathered” or “the strong, fierce and rough are assembled, collected together and excited” “against me” which means “in opposition to me, David”: “not for my transgression” or “in no way or manner on account of my, David's, rebellion, revolt and sin”, “nor for my sin” which means “no and not in any way on account of my, David's, error, mistake or missing of the mark”, “O LORD” or “O Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God”. David referred to how the strong, fierce and rough were assembled in opposition to him, and it was not because of his revolt, error or offense.
When we consider the words in this verse, we see how David's “enemies” lurked and waited to ambush him, and those who were strong and fierce were assembled in opposition to him. These things were not because David committed a transgression or sin before Jehovah God. They hated David and wanted him dead. God knew this, and He knows the wickedness that lurks against His people. God wants to have an intimate personal relationship with every person through His Son Jesus who died on the cross for their sins, and when we submit to Him, we will be forgiven of our sins, granted everlasting life and given His Holy Spirit to lead and guide us into all truth to protect us from the assembling of our “enemies”.
Next time David says, “they run and prepare themselves without my fault”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
