In Psalms chapter fifty nine David said, “Deliver me from my enemies, O my God: defend me from them that rise up against me. Deliver me from the workers of iniquity, and save me from bloody men. For, lo, they lie in wait for my soul: the mighty are gathered against me; not for my transgression, nor for my sin, O LORD”, and in chapter fifty-nine and verse four of Psalms David said, “they run and prepare themselves without my fault” where we read,
They run and prepare themselves without my fault: awake to help me, and behold.
The verse begins, “They run and prepare themselves without my fault:” David began with the words, “They run and prepare themselves” or “they, the enemies of David, dart and move quickly and make stable, firm and established their own selves” “without my fault” which means “with a lack of my, David's, perversity, depravity, iniquity and guilt”. David said his “enemies” scurry about even though there was no perversity, iniquity or guilt within him.
The verse goes on to say, “awake to help me, and behold.” David continued with the words, “awake to help me” or “rouse up, incite, stir up and be excited to encounter, befall and meet me, David”, “and behold” which means “and lo, look and consider”. David appealed to Jehovah God to succor, give aid, look upon and consider what his “enemies” did to him.
When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we see how David shared more of how his “enemies” came against him. They scurried about and made themselves fixed and established against him without there being any cause found in David. David beckoned Jehovah God to rouse Himself up and see what they were doing. God is omniscient, and He knows everything everyone does. He sent His Son Jesus to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind, and when we believe and trust in Him as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and rise up to observe anyone who comes against us.
Next time David says, “O LORD God of hosts, the God of Israel, awake to visit all the heathen”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
