In Psalms one hundred and two the Psalmist said, “This shall be written for the generation to come: and the people which shall be created shall praise the LORD”, and in chapter one hundred two and verse nineteen of Psalms the Psalmist shared how Jehovah God, “looked down from the height of his sanctuary” where we read,
For he has looked down from the height of his sanctuary;
from heaven did the LORD behold the earth;
The verse begins, “For he has looked down from the height of his sanctuary;” The Psalmist began with the words, “for he has looked down” or “because, since and on account that he, Jehovah God, has leaned over, gazed and peeked from an overhang” “from the height” which means “from the elevated place, aloft, above on high and upward” “of his sanctuary” or “pertaining to his, Jehovah God's, holiness, sacredness, separateness and consecrated place”. The Psalmist said the reason these things would be “written down for future generations” is because Jehovah God leaned over to gaze upon these things from on high in His holy and sacred place.
The verse continues, “from heaven did the LORD behold the earth;” The Psalmist added the words, “from heaven” or “separate and apart from the abode of the skies, atmosphere and dwelling place of Jehovah God” “did the LORD” which means “did Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God” “behold the earth” or “look upon, regard, pay attention to and consider the land, country, territory, region and world”. The Psalmist said Jehovah God “looked down” from “heaven” and paid attention to the world.
When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we learn how the Psalmist attempted to describe the way Jehovah God “looks down” upon people in the earth. It's as though He is peering over an overhang from His “sacred” throne and considers the ways of mankind. God is omnipresent, and there is no where that He is not. Paul the apostle wrote, “in him we live, and move, and have our being” (See acts 17:28), and He always knows what we are doing. God loves us, and He cares about us so much that He cannot keep His eyes off us. He sent His Son Jesus into the world to be crucified on the cross to pay the penalty of death for our sins, and when we believe and trust in Him as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and carefully watch and attend to us according to His divine plan and purpose for our lives.
Next time the Psalmist says, “to hear the groaning of the prisoner”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
