In Psalms one hundred seven the Psalmist said Jehovah God, “turns rivers into a wilderness, and the watersprings into dry ground”, and in chapter one hundred seven and verse thirty-four of Psalms the Psalmist said Jehovah God turns, “a fruitful land into barrenness” where we read,
A fruitful land into barrenness, for the wickedness of them that dwell therein.
The verse begins, “A fruitful land into barrenness, ...” The Psalmist began with the words, “a fruitful land” or “a fruit producing country, territory, district, region and ground” “into barrenness” which means “into a salted barren and place”. The Psalmist said Jehovah God has the ability to change a ground that produces fruit into a salted and destitute place.
The verse continues, “... for the wickedness of them that dwell therein.” The Psalmist added the words, “for the wickedness of them” or “because, since and on account of the evil, disagreeable, malignant and unpleasantness within them, the people” “that dwell therein” which means “who live, abide and remain within the barren land”. The Psalmist referred to the evil within the people who lived in the barren land.
When we think through the words in this verse, we learn how the Psalmist shared about the ground that was producing fruit until Jehovah God caused it to be desert place. Evil people continued to live within the barren land, and they were unmoved by the curse that came upon them. God's desire is to save people and not to destroy them. He sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind, and when we yield our lives to him as our “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and keep us from being a part of a barren land that has evil people who live there.
Next time the Psalmist says Jehovah God, “turns the wilderness into a standing water”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
