Turning Rivers into a Wilderness - Psalms 107:33

In Psalms one hundred seven the Psalmist repeated the phrase, “Oh that men would praise the LORD for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men! Let them exalt him also in the congregation of the people, and praise him in the assembly of the elders”, and in chapter one hundred seven and verse thirty-three of Psalms the Psalmist said Jehovah God, “turns the rivers into a wilderness” where we read,

He turns rivers into a wilderness, and the watersprings into dry ground;

The verse begins, He turns rivers into a wilderness, ... The Psalmist began with the words, “He turns rivers” or “He, Jehovah God, puts, sets, appoints, establishes, fixes and constitutes streams or floods” “into a wilderness” which means “into an uninhabited land or desert place”. The Psalmist said Jehovah God puts streams and floods into desert places.

The verse continues, “... and the watersprings into dry ground;” The Psalmist added the words, “and the watersprings” or “and the egresses or veins of water” “unto the dry ground” which means “into the thirsty land”. The Psalmist shared how Jehovah God fixes and constitutes egresses of water into arid and thirsty lands.

When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we see how the Psalmist referred to the way Jehovah God controls the waters and arid lands of the earth. When He desires to turn floods into desert places, He can, and when he wants veins of springs to be where thirsty lands are, He is able. God created the world and everything within it, and He desires to have a personal relationship with us so that we may fully enjoy all He is able to control. He sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind, and when we yield our lives to Him as our “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and allow us to enjoy His power and ability over rivers, watersprings, the wilderness and and dry grounds.

Next time the Psalmist says Jehovah God turns, “a fruitful land into barrenness”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

Until tomorrow…there is more…
