Crying to the LORD in Their Trouble - Psalms 107:19

In Psalms one hundred seven the Psalmist said, “Fools because of their transgression, and because of their iniquities, are afflicted. Their soul abhors all manner of meat; and they draw near unto the gates of death”, and in chapter one hundred seven and verse nineteen of Psalms the Psalmist said the people of Israel, “cry unto the LORD in their trouble” where we read,

Then they cry unto the LORD in their trouble, and he saves them out of their distresses.

The verse begins, Then they cry unto the LORD in their trouble, ... The Psalmist began with the words, “then they cry” or “at that time, therefore, wherefore and on this account they, the people of Israel, call for help, summon, proclaim and shriek from anguish or danger” “unto the LORD” which means “to Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God” “in their trouble” or “within their, the foolish people of Israel's, straits, distress, adversity, sorrow and tribulation”. The Psalmist shared how the people of Israel who were acting foolishly called upon Jehovah God when suffered great death threatening affliction.

The verse goes on to say,... and he saves them out of their distresses. The Psalmist continued with the words, “and he saves them” or “and he, Jehovah God, rescues, delivers and liberates them, the foolish people of Israel” “out of their distresses” which means “from their straits, troubles and anguish”. The Psalmist said Jehovah God rescues and delivers the foolish people of Israel from their troubles and anguish.

When we consider the words in this verse, we see how the Psalmist referred to the way the foolish people in Israel who committed transgressions and iniquities began to call out to Jehovah God for help when they suffered affliction. God responded to them, and He rescued them from their troubles. God is in the rescue business, and He continues to save people from their sins today. He sent His Son Jesus into the world to be crucified for the sins of all mankind, and when we yield our lives to Him as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and rescue us as we live eternally in Heaven with Him.

Next time the Psalmist shares how Jehovah God, “sent his word, and healed them”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
