Enemies Oppressing - Psalms 106:42

In Psalms one hundred six the Psalmist speaking of the people of Israel said Jehovah God, “gave them into the hand of the heathen; and they that hated them ruled over them”, and in chapter one hundred six and verse forty-two of Psalms the Psalmist shared how Israel's, “enemies also oppressed them” where we read,

Their enemies also oppressed them, and they were brought into subjection under their hand.

The verse begins, Their enemies also oppressed them, ... The Psalmist began with the words, “their enemies” or “their, the people of Israels', hating foes and adversaries” “also oppressed them” which means “even so and indeed squeezed, pressed, afflicted and crushed them, the people of Israel”. The Psalmist shared how the hating foes and adversaries of Israel afflicted and crushed the people of Israel.

The verse continues,... and they were brought into subjection under their hand. The Psalmist added the words, “and they were brought into subjection” or “and they, the people of Israel, were humbled, subdued, brought down and vanquished” “under their hand” which means “beneath their, the hating foes and adversaries', hand of power, strength and might”. The Psalmist said the people of Israel were subdued by their hating foes and were humiliated beneath their power and might.

When we consider the words in this verse, we see how the Psalmist shared more results of the people of Israel abandoning Jehovah God and serving pagan gods. God allow their hating foes to rule over and afflict them, and the people were humiliated beneath the power of their enemies. This was not what God wanted for the people of Israel, but they brought this upon themselves by worshiping other gods. God wants people to be in a personal relationship with Him through His Son Jesus who died on the cross for the sins of the entire world. When we surrender to Him as our “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and keep us from the humiliation of rejecting Him. God loves us, and He knows that when we turn to other images, idols and gods, we will suffer consequences that He never intended that we experience.

Next time the Psalmist shares of Jehovah God, “many times did he deliver them”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
