In Psalms one hundred seven the Psalmist repeated the phrase, “Oh that men would praise the LORD for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men!”, and in chapter one hundred seven and verse thirty-two of Psalms the Psalmist said, “let them exalt him also in the congregation” where we re
Let them exalt him also in the congregation of the people, and praise him in the assembly of the elders.
The verse begins, “Let them exalt him also in the congregation of the people, ...” The Psalmist began with the words, “let them exalt him also” or “allow and permit them, the people of Israel, lift up, raise and extol him, Jehovah God, even so and indeed” “in the congregation” which means “within the assembly, organized body or company” “of the people” or “belonging to the human beings both male and female”. The Psalmist called upon the assembly of the people to lift up and extol Jehovah God.
The verse goes on to say, “... and praise him in the assembly of the elders.” The Psalmist continued with the words, “and praise him” or “and boast about, make praiseworthy, commend and make worthy of glory him, Jehovah God” “in the assembly” which means “within the dwelling place, sitting company or inhabited place” “of the elders”or “belonging to the aged, ancient and senior people”. The Psalmist exhorted the people reading and listening to his words to offer thanksgiving and gratitude to Jehovah God within the assembly of the aged and senior people among them.
When we consider the words in this verse, we see how the Psalmist exhorted the people to lift up and extol Jehovah God in their gatherings, and to give Him honor and adoration when they collected themselves together with the aged and senior people among them. We put ourselves in the best place we can be when we exalt Jehovah God. He wants a personal relationship with us, and He sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for our sins so we could be forgiven and inherit everlasting life with Him. When we surrender our lives to Jesus, we give honor, adoration and glory to Jehovah God, and as we gather together, we can exalt and praise Him for who He is and what He has done.
Next time the Psalmist says Jehovah God, “turns the rivers into a wilderness”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
