Seeing the Works of the LORD - Psalms 107:24

In Psalms one hundred seven the Psalmist said, “They that go down to the sea in ships, that do business in great waters”, and in chapter one hundred seven and verse twenty-four of Psalms the Psalmist said, “these see the works of the LORD” where we read,

These see the works of the LORD, and his wonders in the deep.

The verse begins, These see the works of the LORD, ... The Psalmist began with the words, “these see the works” or “these, the people who go down to the sea in ships, observe, notice, discover and discern the acts, deeds and labors” “of the LORD” which means “belonging to Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God”. The Psalmist shared how the people who descended to the sea to conduct business observe the acts and deeds of Jehovah God.

The verse continues,... and his wonders in the deep. The Psalmist added the words, “and his wonders” or “and his, Jehovah God's, marvelous, wonderful, surpassing and extraordinary works” “in the deep” which means “within the depths or bottom of the sea”. The Psalmist said the people who descend to the “sea” notice Jehovah God's extraordinary works and deeds within the midst it's depths.

When we think through the words in this verse, we see how the Psalmist referred to the observation of the people who sailed upon the sea. They saw Jehovah God's extraordinary works and acts within the deep waters, and anyone who explores the seas and oceans of the world know what he was sharing. God created all the fish, mammals, sea creatures and the abundant sea life that exists within the deep waters. This same God loves us, and He wants us to live with Him and be aware of His wonders for all eternity. He sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for our sins so when we believe and trust in Him as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and allow us to be among those who marvel at the extraordinary works and deeds of our great Creator God.

Next time the Psalmist says Jehovah God, “commanded, and raises the stormy wind”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

Until tomorrow…there is more…
