Cast Forth Lightning and Scatter Them - Psalms 144:6

In Psalms one hundred and forty four David said, “Bow your heavens, O LORD, and come down: touch the mountains, and they shall smoke”, and in chapter one hundred and forty four and verse six of Psalms David said to Jehovah God, cast forth lightning, and scatter themwhere we read,

Cast forth lightning, and scatter them: shoot out your arrows, and destroy them.

The verse begins, Cast forth lightning, and scatter them: David began with the words, “cast forth lightning” or “send and flash lightning from the skies”, “and scatter them” which means “and spread about, break in pieces and disperse them, the hating foes and adversaries of David”. David wanted Jehovah God to send flashing lightning upon his enemies so they would be spread about and dispersed.

The verse continues, “shoot out your arrows, and destroy them.” David added the words, “shoot out your arrows” or “send, let go of and extend your, Jehovah God's, shafts or darts used by archers “and destroy them” which means “and confuse, consume, crush, discomfort and vex them, David's enemies”. David appealed to Jehovah God to let go of his shafts or darts to consume and discomfort his hating foes and adversaries.

When we think through David's words in this verse, we see how he wanted God to bring vengeance upon his enemies. God can easily manage the “lightning” in the sky, and He can send them forth to accomplish His will at any time. God will contend with our enemies when we have a personal relationship with Him through His Son Jesus who died on the cross for our sins. When we surrender to Jesus as our “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and use whatever forces, whether lightning or other means, to deal with people who hate us and Him.

Next time David says, send your hand from above, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

Until tomorrow…there is more…
