No Trust in Princes or Men - Psalms 146:3

In Psalms one hundred and forty six the Psalmist said, “While I live will I praise the LORD: I will sing praises unto my God while I have any being”, and in chapter one hundred forty six and verse three of Psalms the Psalmist said, “put not your trust in princes, nor in the son of man where we read,

Put not your trust in princes, nor in the son of man, in whom there is no help.

The verse begins, Put not your trust in princes, nor in the son of man, .... The Psalmist began with the words, “put not your trust” or “do not place, set or fix your, the Psalmist's readers and listeners, confidence, faith, security and safety” “in princes” which means “within nobility, magnanimous ones and generous royals”, “nor in the son of man” or “no and not in any way within the offspring and progeny belonging to people whether male or female”. The Psalmist exhorted his listeners not to place their confidence and faith within magnanimous rulers or the offspring of people.

The verse goes on to say, “... in whom there is no help.” The Psalmist continued with the words, “in whom” or “within whom, the princes or offspring of people” “there is not help” which means “there does not exist salvation, deliverance, safety or victory”. The Psalmist said salvation and deliverance was not within people who are royal rulers or the offspring of mankind.

When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we see how the Psalmist understood the limited ability of people when they put their faith and confidence within leaders, royals and progeny who rule among them. God wants us to put our “faith and trust” in Him, and because He sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross to save us from our sins, we have the opportunity to receive Him as our personal “Savior and Lord”. When we do, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and teach us to have confidence in Him rather than royal leaders or offspring of people who are limited in their deliverance, safety and victory.

Next time the Psalmist says, his breath goes forth, he returns to his earth, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

Until tomorrow…there is more…
