No Delight in the Horse's Strength - Psalms 147:10

In Psalms one hundred and forty seven the Psalmist said Jehovah God, “covers the heaven with clouds, who prepares rain for the earth, who makes grass to grow upon the mountains. He gives to the beast his food, and to the young ravens which cry”, and in chapter one hundred forty seven and verse ten of Psalms the Psalmist said about Jehovah God, “he delights not in the strength of the horse” where we read,

He delights not in the strength of the horse: he takes not pleasure in the legs of a man.

The verse begins, He delights not in the strength of the horse:. The Psalmist began with the words, “he delights not” or “he, Jehovah God, does not take pleasure, desire or favor” “in the strength” which means “within the power, might and ability” “of the horse” or “belonging to the animal known as a horse”. The Psalmist said Jehovah God does not take pleasure within the power, might and ability of the “horse”.

The verse continues, “he takes not pleasure in the legs of a man.” The Psalmist added the words, “he takes not pleasure” or “he, Jehovah God, does not accept favorably” “in the legs” which means “within the lower appendages” “of a man” or “belonging to a person both male and female”. The Psalmist said Jehovah God does not delight or act favorably toward the “legs” belonging to people.

When we consider the words in this verse, we see how the Psalmist said Jehovah God does not “delight” in the power and might of a “horse”, nor does He “act favorably” toward the “legs” of people. God created them both, and He knows the limitations of them. God created us as well, and He desires to have a personal relationship with us through His Son Jesus who died on the cross for our sins. When we yield our lives to Him, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and show us what gives Him pleasure and what does not.

Next time the Psalmist says, “the LORD takes pleasure in them that fear him”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
