God's Judgment for the Oppressed - Psalms 146:7

In Psalms one hundred and forty six the Psalmist said, “Happy is he that has the God of Jacob for his help, whose hope is in the LORD his God. Which made heaven, and earth, the sea, and all that therein is: which keeps truth for ever”, and in chapter one hundred forty six and verse seven of Psalms the Psalmist shared how Jehovah God, “executes judgment for the oppressed” where we read,

Which executes judgment for the oppressed: which gives food to the hungry.

The LORD looses the prisoners:

The verse begins, Which executes judgment for the oppressed: which gives food to the hungry.. The Psalmist began with the words, “which executes judgment” or “who fashions, accomplishes, makes and produces justice, ordinance, process, procedure and litigation” “for the oppressed” which means “on behalf of people who are violated, defrauded, wronged, exploited, crushed and extorted”: “which gives food” or “who grants, bestows and provides bread, grain, meat and victuals” “to the hungry” which means “to people who fail in strength from lack of nourishment”. The Psalmist said Jehovah God not only produces justice and litigation for people who are defrauded and wronged, but He also provides bread and meat to people who fail in strength from their lack of nourishment.

The verse goes on to say, “The LORD looses the prisoners:” The Psalmist continued with the words, “the LORD” or “Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God” “looses the prisoners” which means “shakes, springs up, unbinds and sets people free who are harnessed, girded, bound and as captives”. The Psalmist said Jehovah God sets free people who are captive and bound.

When we think through the Psalmist's words in this verse, we see how he referred to the way Jehovah God not only produces litigation and justice for people who have been violated, but He also provides meat and bread to people who lack in nourishment. He sets captives free, and because of all these wonderful traits, we may rely upon, trust in and cling to Him. (See Isaiah 61:1; Luke 4:18-19) He sent His Son Jesus into the world to be crucified on the cross for the sins of all mankind, and He was raised from the dead three days later so that every person who puts their faith and trust in Him will receive forgiveness of sins, be granted everlasting life and discover that it was for freedom they were set free. (See Galatians 5:1) Let us give Jehovah God and His Son Jesus praise, honor and glory for justice, provision and setting us free.

Next time the Psalmist says, “the LORD opens the eyes of the blind”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
