The LORD Builds Up Jerusalem - Psalms 147:3

In Psalms one hundred and forty seven the Psalmist said, “The LORD does build up Jerusalem: he gathers together the outcasts of Israel”, and in chapter one hundred forty seven and verse three of Psalms the Psalmist said Jehovah God, “heals the broken in heart” where we read,

He heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds.

The verse begins, He heals the broken in heart, .... The Psalmist began with the words, “he heals” or “He, Jehovah God, makes healthy, mends and repairs” “the broken in heart” which means “people who are crushed, violently rent and ruptured within their soul, mind, will, desires, conscience, living being and seat of emotions and affections”. The Psalmist said Jehovah God mends the souls of people who have been ruptured and crushed.

The verse goes on to say, “... and binds up their wounds.” The Psalmist continued with the words, “and binds up” or “and saddles, restrains, bandages and firmly wraps” “their wounds” which means “their, the broken in heart's, pain, hurt, injury and sorrow”. The Psalmist shared how Jehovah God bandages and firmly wraps the pain and injury within people who have had their “hearts broken”.

When we think through the words in this verse, we learn how the Psalmist referred to the way Jehovah God cures the souls and minds of people who have had their “hearts” or “souls” crushed. God compassionately wraps and bandages their injuries, and cares for them while they mend. Life brings injury to us, and our sin brought injury to God's Son Jesus. Jesus was sent into the world to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind, and when we yield our lives to Him, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and mend our souls, minds and wills where they have been damaged by circumstances and other people.

Next time the Psalmist says Jehovah God, “tells the number of the stars”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

Until tomorrow…there is more…
