God Tells the Number of the Stars - Psalms 147:4

In Psalms one hundred and forty seven the Psalmist said, “The LORD does build up Jerusalem: he gathers together the outcasts of Israel. He heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds”, and in chapter one hundred forty seven and verse four of Psalms the Psalmist said Jehovah God, “tells the number of the stars” where we read,

He tells the number of the stars; and calls them all by their names.

The verse begins, He tells the number of the stars;. The Psalmist began with the words, “he tells the number” or “He, Jehovah God, counts, reckons, assigns and appoints the tale or count” “of the stars” which means “pertaining to blazing, round and shining celestial bodies”. The Psalmist said Jehovah God knows the count of the celestial bodies within the sky.

The verse continues, “and calls them all by their names.” The Psalmist added the words, “and calls them all” or “and proclaims, cries out and utters a loud sound toward each, every, the whole and everyone of the celestial bodies” “by their names” which means “by the celestial bodies' reputation, fame and glory”. The Psalmist said Jehovah God gave “names” to each and every one of the celestial bodies in the sky.

When we consider the Psalmist's words in this verse, we see learn how Jehovah God not only created the “celestial bodies” in the sky, but He also knows how many there are and refers to them by “name”. God is the omniscient Almighty God, and nothing is impossible with Him. When we consider the vast number of “stars” in the sky, we can only imagine this capacity. This same God loves us and wants to have a personal relationship with us through His Son Jesus Christ who died on the cross for our sins. When we yield our lives to Him, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and teach us to marvel at His great abilities with the celestial bodies in the sky.

Next time the Psalmist says, “great is our Lord, and of great power”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
