The LORD Builds Up Jerusalem - Psalms 147:2

In Psalms one hundred and forty seven the Psalmist said, “Praise you the LORD: for it is good to sing praises unto our God; for it is pleasant, and praise is comely”, and in chapter one hundred forty seven and verse two of Psalms the Psalmist said, “the LORD does build up Jerusalem” where we read,

The LORD does build up Jerusalem: he gathers together the outcasts of Israel.

The verse begins, The LORD does build up Jerusalem:. The Psalmist began with the words, “the LORD” or “Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God” “does build up” which means “rebuilds, establishes and causes to continue” “Jerusalem” whose name means “teaching of peace” and is “the chief city of Palestine and capital of the united kingdom and the nation of Judah after the split”. The Psalmist referred to how Jehovah God established the city of “Jerusalem”.

The verse continues, “he gathers together the outcasts of Israel.” The Psalmist added the words, “he gathers together” or “he, Jehovah God, assembles, collects, enfolds and heaps up” “the outcasts of Israel” which means “the thrust down, pushed violently, overthrown and driven away people belonging to Israel whose name means God prevails and is the name of the descendants and the nation of the descendants of Jacob”. The Psalmist shared how Jehovah God assembles the people within the nation of “Israel” who have been overthrown, thrust down and driven away.

When we meditate upon the Psalmist's words in this verse, we see how he shared about Jehovah God establishing the city of “Jerusalem” and assembling the people in “Israel” who were thrust down and treated violently. God loves “Jerusalem” and “Israel”, and He chose them to be the city and nation through whom the entire world could be saved. He sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind, and when we yield our lives to Him, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and establish and assemble us even as He does “Jerusalem” and “Israel”.

Next time the Psalmist says Jehovah God, “heals the broken in heart”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
