Great is the Lord, and of Great Power - Psalms 147:5

In Psalms one hundred and forty seven the Psalmist said, “The LORD does build up Jerusalem: he gathers together the outcasts of Israel. He heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds. He tells the number of the stars; he calls them all by their names”, and in chapter one hundred forty seven and verse five of Psalms the Psalmist said, “great is the Lord, and of great power” where we read,

Great is the Lord, and of great power: his understanding is infinite.

The verse begins, Great is our Lord, and of great power:. The Psalmist began with the words, “great is the Lord” or “massive, distinguished and important exists our, the Psalmist and his people's, sovereign master, owner and One who rules”, “and of great power” which means “and possesses abundant, numerous, exceeding and chief strength, might, wealth, produce and ability”. The Psalmist said Jehovah God is the sovereign master who possesses abundant strength and might.

The verse goes on to say, “his understanding is infinite.” The Psalmist continued with the words, “his understanding” or “Jehovah God's intelligence, insight, discretion and reason” “is infinite” which means “exists as innumerable, abundant and limitless”. The Psalmist said Jehovah God's insight and intelligence is innumerable and limitless.

When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we see how the Psalmist shared the awesomeness of Jehovah God who has abundant power and is beyond limits in His intelligence. God is omniscient, omnipresent and omnipotent, and He desires to have a personal intimate relationship with us through His Son Jesus who died on the cross for the sins of all mankind. When we believe and trust in Him as our “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and show Himself “great, with great power and infinite understanding” throughout all eternity.

Next time the Psalmist says, “the LORD lifts up the meek”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
