In Psalms one hundred and forty three David said to Jehovah God, “Hear me speedily, O LORD: my spirit fails: hide not your face from me, lest I be like unto them that go down into the pit”, and in chapter one hundred and forty three and verse eight of Psalms David said to Jehovah God, “cause me to hear your lovingkindness in the morning” where we read,
Cause me to hear your lovingkindness in the morning; for in you do I trust: cause me to know the way wherein I should walk; for I lift up my soul unto you.
The verse begins, “cause me to hear your lovingkindness in the morning;” David began with the words, “cause me to hear” or “make me, David, to listen to, obey and perceive” “your lovingkindness” which means “your, Jehovah God's, goodness, kindness and faithfulness” “in the morning” or “within the sunrise, break and dawn of the day”. David wanted Jehovah God to help him listen to and obey His goodness, kindness and faithfulness at the dawning of the day.
The verse continues, “for in you do I trust: cause me to know the way wherein I should walk; for I lift up my soul unto you.” David added the words, “for in you do I trust” or “because, since and on account that within you, Jehovah God, do I, David, have confidence, boldness, and security”: “cause me to know the way” which means “make me, David, to perceive, understand, discover, discriminate and distinguish the manner, journey and direction” “wherein I should walk” or “in which I, David, am to depart, proceed, move and go”: “for I lift up my soul” which means “because, since and on account that I, David, exalt, carry, support and sustain my, David's, heart, mind, will, desires, conscience, living being and seat of emotions and affections” “unto you” or “toward you, Jehovah God”. David said he had confidence within Jehovah God, desired to have God help him to understand how he should proceed through his life and raised his heart, mind and will to God.
When we meditate upon David's words in this verse, we learn how he wanted Jehovah God to help him to listen to His goodness, kindness and faithfulness from the very beginning of the morning. He had confidence within Jehovah God, and he knew God would direct his steps because he raised up his heart, mind and will to Him. God wants us to live throughout our days listening to Him, and when we put our faith and confidence in His Son Jesus who died on the cross for our sins as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and guide us as we raise our hearts, minds and wills up to Him. (See John 16:13)
Next time David says to Jehovah God, “deliver me, O LORD, from my enemies”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
