Praise the Name of the LORD - Psalms 148:5

In Psalms one hundred and forty eight the Psalmist said, “Praise you him, all his angels: praise you him, all his hosts. Praise you him, sun and moon: praise him, all you stars of light. Praise him, you heavens of heavens, and you waters that be above the heavens”, and in Psalms one hundred and forty eight and verse five of Psalms the Psalmist said, “let them praise the name of the LORD” where we read,

Let them praise the name of the LORD: for he commanded, and they were created.

The verse begins, Let them praise the name of the LORD:. The Psalmist began with the words, “let them praise” or “allow and permit them, the angels, hosts, sun, moon, stars, heavens and waters above them give thanksgiving, adoration and worship to“the name of the LORD” which means “to the fame, reputation and glory belonging to Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God”. The Psalmist wanted all of Jehovah God's creation to give honor, praise and glory to God.

The verse continues, “for he commanded, and they were created.” The Psalmist added the words, “for he commanded” or “because, since and on account that he, Jehovah God, charged, appointed and ordered”, “and they were created” which means “and they, the angels, hosts, sun, moon, stars, heavens and waters above them, were shaped, formed, fashioned and dispatched”. The Psalmist shared how Jehovah God made the order, and the angels, hosts, sun, moon, stars, heavens and waters above them were formed and dispatched.

When we meditate upon the Psalmist's words in this verse, we learn how he wanted all of God's creation to give God honor and glory. God created the world and everything that is within it, and because He gave people a will to choose or not choose Him, people may or may not be in a relationship with Him. Paul the apostle wrote, “All have sinned and come short of the glory of God”, (Romans 3:23) and “the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord”. (See Romans 6:23) John the apostle wrote, “If we confess our sins, he, Jehovah God, is faithful and just to forgive our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness”. (See 1 John 1:9) God sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for our sins, and when we yield to Him as our “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and allow us to join the rest of His creation in giving Him praise, honor and glory.

Next time the Psalmist says Jehovah God, “has also established them for ever and ever”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
