Praise You the LORD - Psalms 146:1

In Psalms one hundred and forty six and verse one the Psalmist said, “praise you the LORD” where we read,

Praise you the LORD. Praise the LORD, O my soul.

The verse begins, “Praise you the LORD. The Psalmist began with the words, “praise you” or “you people who are reading and listening to the Psalmist's words give thanksgiving, adoration and worship to” “the LORD” which means “to Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God”. The Psalmist called upon everyone to give thanksgiving, honor and glory to Jehovah God.

The verse goes on to say, “Praise the LORD, O my soul.” The Psalmist continued with the words, “praise the LORD” or “give thanksgiving, adoration and worship to Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God”, “O my soul” which means “O my, the Psalmist's, heart, mind, will, desires, conscience, living being and seat of emotions and passions”. The Psalmist repeated the idea of giving thanksgiving and honor to Jehovah God, and this time he exhorted his own heart, mind and will to get involved.

When we think through the words in this verse, we see how the Psalmist exhorted his readers and listeners to honor, worship and give thanksgiving to Jehovah God. He also included his own heart, mind and will in the effort, and those who are wise will follow his example. God loves us, and He proved His love by sending His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind, and when we surrender our lives to Him as our “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and allow us to give Him glory, honor and thanksgiving for all eternity.

Next time the Psalmist says, While I live will I praise the LORD, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
