Snow Like Wool - Psalms 147:16

In Psalms one hundred and forty seven the Psalmist said “Praise the LORD, O Jerusalem; praise your God, O Zion. For he has strengthened the bars of your gates; he has blessed your children within you. He makes peace in your borders, and fills you with the finest of the wheat. He sends forth his commandment upon earth: his word runs very swiftly”, and in chapter one hundred forty seven and verse sixteen of Psalms the Psalmist said Jehovah God, “gives snow like wool” where we read,

He gives snow like wool: he scatters the hoarfrost like ashes.

The verse begins, He gives snow like wool:. The Psalmist began with the words, “he gives snow” or “he, Jehovah God, bestows, grants and provides white snow from the sky” “like wool” which means “similar and in likeness to shaggy wool which is used for making garments”. The Psalmist said Jehovah God provides the soft “snow” from the sky in likeness to fluffy “wool” that covers the ground.

The verse continues, “he scatters the hoarfrost like ashes.” The Psalmist added the words, “he scatters the hoarfrost” or “he, Jehovah God, spreads and disperses white frost that covers the ground” “like ashes” which means “similar and in likeness to light flying ashes”. The Psalmist said Jehovah God spreads the “frost” on the ground like light covering ashes.

When we consider the words in this verse, we see how the Psalmist said Jehovah God provides “snow” and “frost” like covering “wool” or “ashes” that have fallen upon the ground. God's creation is wonderful to observe, and we can realize He made not only the “frost and snow”, but He made us as well. He desires to have a personal relationship with us through His Son Jesus, and when we yield our lives to Him as our “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and open our eyes to the wonderful icy wonders He has made.

Next time the Psalmist says of Jehovah God, “he casts forth his ice like morsels”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
