God Melting Cold with His Word - Psalms 147:18

In Psalms one hundred and forty seven the Psalmist said Jehovah God, “gives snow like wool: he scatters the hoarfrost like ashes. He casts forth his ice like morsels: who can stand before his cold?”, and in chapter one hundred forty seven and verse eighteen of Psalms the Psalmist said Jehovah God, “sends out his word, and melts them” where we read,

He sends out his word, and melts them: he causes his wind to blow, and the waters flow.

The verse begins, He sends out his word, and melts them:. The Psalmist began with the words, “he sends out his word” or “He, Jehovah God, dispatches and assigns His speech, utterance, acts and manner”, “and melts them” which means “and dissolves, consumes and liquidizes them, the frozen snow, frost and ice”. The Psalmist said Jehovah God dissolves the frozen snow, ice and frost with His speech.

The verse goes on to say, “he causes his wind to blow, and the waters flow.” The Psalmist continued with the words, “he causes his wind to blow” or “he, Jehovah God, makes, produces blows, disperses and drives away his, Jehovah God's, gas, breath of air and spirit”, “and the waters flow” which means “and the springs or floods to trickle, distill, pour or gush out”. The Psalmist referred to the way Jehovah God disperses His breeze and makes His springs to pour forth.

When we think through the words in this verse, we discover how the Psalmist referred to more of Jehovah God's abilities with His creation. He “melts” the “ice crystals” with His speech. He makes the “wind” to disperse, and He pours forth His “springs”. God created a fantastic world, and He governs over it all. He desires to have a personal relationship with us to allow us to enjoy His creation to it's full capacity, and this is possible because He sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for our sins which separated us from Him. When we surrender our lives to Jesus as our “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and teach us to appreciate His wonderful world of frosty morsels, breezes and springing waters.

Next time the Psalmist says Jehovah God, “shows his word unto Jacob”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
