In the book of Proverbs Solomon said, “the spirit of a man will sustain his infirmity; but a wounded spirit who can bear?”, and in chapter eighteen and verse fifteen of Proverbs Solomon said, “the heart of the prudent gets knowledge” where we read,
The heart of the prudent gets knowledge; and the ear of the wise seeks knowledge.
The verse begins, “The heart of the prudent gets knowledge;” Solomon began with the words, “the heart of the prudent” or “the soul, mind, will, desires, living being, conscience and seat of emotions and passions belonging to people who are discerning, understanding and intelligent” “gets knowledge” which means “acquires, possesses and obtains perception, skill and wisdom”. Solomon shared how the soul and mind of people who are discerning and intelligent acquire perception and wisdom.
The verse continues, “and the ear of the wise seeks knowledge.” Solomon added the words, “and the ear” or “and the physical ear used for hearing” “of the wise” which means “belonging to people who are skillful, shrewd and prudent” “seeks knowledge” or “requires, desires, exacts and requests perception, understanding and cunning”. Solomon said the physical ear used for hearing by people who are skillful and prudent acquires understanding and perception.
When we think through the words in this verse, we discover through Solomon how the soul of people who are skillful and prudent not only obtains perception and wisdom, but it also desires cunning and ability through listening. God gave us our souls, ears and wise desires, and when we align with Him through His Son Jesus who died on the cross for our sins, we will be forgiven of our sins, granted everlasting life and continually gain His “knowledge” on earth and in Heaven.
