Bless the LORD, O My Soul - Psalms 104:1

The one hundred and fourth Psalm begins with the Psalmist saying, “Bless the LORD, O my soul”, and in chapter one hundred four and verse one of Psalms the Psalmist fully wrote,

Bless the LORD, O my soul. O LORD my God, you are very great;

you are clothed with honor and majesty.

The verse begins, Bless the LORD, O my soul. O LORD my God, you are very great; The Psalmist began with the words, “Bless the LORD” or “salute, kneel to and praise Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God”, “O my soul” which means “O my, David's, inner man, mind, will, living being and seat of emotions and appetites”. “O LORD” or “O Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God” “my God” which means “my, the Psalmist's, Divine judge, ruler and Supreme God”, “you are very great” or “you, Jehovah God, exist as exceedingly, abundantly and to a great degree magnified, powerful, excellent and advanced”. The Psalmist called upon himself to salute and give praise to Jehovah God because He was the Psalmist's “Divine and Supreme God” who exists as exceedingly and abundantly magnified.

The verse continues,you are clothed with honor and majesty. The Psalmist added the words, “you are clothed” or “you, Jehovah God, exist as dressed, arrayed and wrapped around” “with honor and majesty” which means “by the use of splendor, vigor, ornament and glory”. The Psalmist said Jehovah God is arrayed with splendor, ornament and glory.

When we consider the words in this verse, we see how the Psalmist called upon himself to salute and give praise to Jehovah God. He considered God to be his “Divine judge and Supreme God”, and he observed him as arrayed with splendor and glory. God is worthy of our praise, and in all His greatness, He sent His Son Jesus into the world to be crucified on the cross for the sins of all mankind. When we yield our lives to Him as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and allow us to worship and adore Him for all eternity.

Next time the Psalmist says of Jehovah God, “Who covers yourself with light as with a garment:”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
