God Covers Himself with Light - Psalms 104:2

In Psalms one hundred four the Psalmist said, “Bless the LORD, O my soul. O LORD my God, you are very great; you are clothed with honor and majesty”, and in chapter one hundred four and verse two of Psalms the Psalmist said, “who covers yourself with light” where we read,

Who covers yourself with light as with a garment: who stretches out the heavens like a curtain:

The verse begins, Who covers yourself with light as with a garment: The Psalmist began with the words, “who covers yourself” or “who, Jehovah God, wraps, envelopes, veils and clothes your own self” “with light” which means “by the use of illumination, prosperity, instruction and brightness” “as with a garment” or “similar and in likeness to a mantle, outer dress, clothes or raiment”. The Psalmist said Jehovah God wraps Himself with illumination similar to clothing or raiment.

The verse goes on to say,who stretches out the heavens like a curtain: David continues with the words, “who stretches out the heavens” or “who, Jehovah God, spreads out and extends the visible skies, atmosphere and the abode of God” “like a curtain” which means “similar and in likeness to a hanging drape”. The Psalmist said Jehovah God expands the visible sky, atmosphere and His dwelling place similar to a hanging drape.

When we mediate upon the words in this verse, we see how the Psalmist attempted to share more of the attributes of Jehovah God. God dwells in “light”, and like the covering or wrapping of clothing, He is surrounded by illumination. God extends and expands the skies, atmosphere and His abode like a hanging drape. In other words, He is a luminescent and all-powerful God. This same God loves us and sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for our sins. When we believe and trust in Him as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and allow us to experience His brightness, glory and ability for all eternity.

Next time the Psalmist says of Jehovah God, “Who lays the beams of his chambers in the waters”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
