Blessed Be the LORD God - Psalms 106:48

In Psalms one hundred six the Psalmist said, “Save us, O LORD our God, and gather us from among the heathen, to give thanks unto your holy name, and to triumph in your praise”, and in chapter one hundred six and verse forty-eight of Psalms the Psalmist said, “Blessed be the LORD God of Israel” where we read,

Blessed be the LORD God of Israel from everlasting to everlasting:

and let all the people say, Amen. Praise you the LORD.

The verse begins, Blessed be the LORD God of Israel from everlasting to everlasting: The Psalmist began with the words, “Blessed be the LORD God” or “O how happy, praised and adored exists Jehovah who is the exiting One and the proper name for the One True God and the Divine judge, ruler and Supreme God” “of Israel” which means “belonging to Israel whose name means God prevails and is the second name for Jacob given to him by God after his wrestling with the angel at Peniel” “from everlasting” or “even unto long duration, antiquity, ever more and perpetuity” “to everlasting” which means “toward long duration, futurity, ever more and perpetuity. The Psalmist said Jehovah God is to be honored and praise because He is Israel's Divine judge and ruler who exists from the eternal past to the eternal future.

The verse continues, and let all the people say, Amen. Praise you the LORD. The Psalmist goes on to say the words, “and let all the people say” or “and allow and permit each, every, the whole and every one of the people of Israel utter, declare and proclaim”, “Amen” which means “verily, truly, so be it or so shall it be”. “Praise you” or “give honor, adoration, thanksgiving and glory to Jehovah God” “the LORD” which means “Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God”. The Psalmist exhorted each and every person who is reading and listening to his words to declare “so be it”, and he concluded this Psalm with the instruction to give honor, adoration and thanksgiving unto Jehovah God.

When we consider the words in this verse, we see how the Psalmist ended this Psalm by “blessing” Jehovah God and exhorting all of his readers and listeners to proclaim, “so be it or so it is” and glory, honor and adoration be unto Him. God is worthy of our praise because in spite of our sinfulness and separation from Him, He desires to have a personal relationship with us through His Son Jesus. When we yield our lives to Jesus who died on the cross for our sins, we will be forgiven of our sins, granted everlasting life and given the opportunity to join others who “Praise the LORD” and give glory and honor to Him for which He is worthy.

Next time we begin a new chapter and see the Psalmist say, “O give thanks unto the LORD, for he is good”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
