Give Thanks Unto the LORD for He is Good - Psalms 107:1

In Psalms one hundred seven the Psalmist said, “Give thanks unto the LORD, for He is good”, and in chapter one hundred seven and verse one of Psalms the Psalmist said in full,

O give thanks unto the LORD, for he is good: for his mercy endures for ever.

The verse begins, O give thanks unto the LORD, for he is good: The Psalmist began with the words, “O give thanks” or “O cast forth and confess adoration, praise, laud and worship” “unto the LORD” which means “to Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God”, “for he is good” or “because, since and on account that he, Jehovah God, exists as pleasant, excellent, rich and valuable in estimation”. The Psalmist exhorted his readers to confess adoration and praise to Jehovah God because He exists as pleasant, excellent and valuable in estimation.

The verse goes on to say,for his mercy endures for ever. The Psalmist continued with the words, “for his mercy” or “because, since and on account that his, Jehovah God's, goodness, kindness and faithfulness” “endures for ever” which means “lasts and remains for long duration, everlasting, to futurity, perpetually and evermore”. The Psalmist said the goodness, kindness and faithfulness of Jehovah God remains perpetually and forevermore.

When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we learn how the Psalmist instructed his readers and listeners to offer thanksgiving and praise to Jehovah God because God is “good” or pleasant, excellent and valuable. God's kindness, goodness and faithfulness lasts forever, and we are all invited to have a personal relationship with Him that allows us to enjoy all His attributes. God loves us, and He sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for our sins which separated us from Him. When we yield our lives to Jesus as our “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and permit us to be with Him for all eternity in Heaven to enjoy His goodness and mercy.

Next time the Psalmist says, “let the redeemed of the LORD say so, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
