Crying Unto the LORD in Trouble - Psalms 107:13

In Psalms one hundred seven the Psalmist said the people of Israel, “rebelled against the words of God, and contemned the counsel of the most High. Therefore he brought down their heart with labor; they fell down, and there was none to help”, and in chapter one hundred seven and verse thirteen of Psalms the Psalmist shared how the people, cried unto the LORD in their trouble where we read,

Then they cried unto the LORD in their trouble, and he saved them out of their distresses.

The verse begins, Then they cried unto the LORD in their trouble, ... The Psalmist began with the words, “then they cried or “at that time, therefore, wherefore and these things being so they, the people of Israel, called, summoned and gathered together to proclaim” “unto the LORD” which means “to Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God” “in their trouble” or “within their, the people of Israel's, straits, distress, adversity and affliction”. The Psalmist referred to the way the people of Israel summoned Jehovah God while they were suffering distress and affliction.

The verse goes on to say,... and he saved them out of their distresses. The Psalmist continued with the words, “and he saved them” or “and he, Jehovah God, rescued, delivered and liberated them, the people of Israel” “out of their distresses” which means “separate from their, the people of Israel's, straits, stress and trouble”. The Psalmist said Jehovah God rescued the people of Israel from their straits and troubles.

When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we see how the Psalmist shared the way Jehovah God responded to the call for help from the people of Israel. Although the people of Israel were rebelling against God's words and unwilling to heed His advice, when they called upon Jehovah God, He rescued them. God is a God of love, mercy and kindness, and when He sees that we are heading in a direction that is opposite of His way for us, He is waiting for us to turn to Him. He sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for our sins, and when we believe and trust in Him as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and rescue us eternally from the penalty of death and separation from Him that was due to us all.

Next time the Psalmist shares how Jehovah God, brought them out of darkness and the shadow of death, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
