Crying Unto the LORD - Psalms 107:6

In Psalms one hundred seven the Psalmist said because the people of Israel were, “Hungry and thirsty, their soul fainted in them”, and in chapter one hundred seven and verse six of Psalms the Psalmist said, they cried unto the LORD in their trouble where we read,

Then they cried unto the LORD in their trouble, and he delivered them out of their distresses.

The verse begins, Then they cried unto the LORD in their trouble, ... The Psalmist began with the words, “then they cried” or “at that time, therefore, wherefore and on this account they, the people of Israel, shouted aloud and called for help” “unto the LORD” which means “to Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God” “in their trouble” or “within their, the people of Israel's, straits, distresses and afflictions”. The Psalmist shared how the people of Israel shouted aloud to Jehovah God while they were afflicted and in distress.

The verse continues,... and he delivered them out of their distresses. The Psalmist added the words, “and he delivered them” or “and he, Jehovah God, saved, rescued and liberated them, the people of Israel” “out of their distresses” which means “separate and apart from their, the people of Israel's, straits, anguish and stress”. The Psalmist said Jehovah God rescued the people of Israel from their dire straits and anguish when they shouted aloud to Him.

When we consider the words in this verse, we see how the Psalmist shared how the people of Israel called upon Jehovah God as they were suffering in the “wilderness”. Being “hungry and thirsty” tends to make people cry out to God, and the idea is that they are in need. We all need to be saved from the penalty for our sins because “the wages of sin is death” and “all have sinned and come short of the glory of God”. (See Romans 6:23 and 3:23) God loves us, wants to save us and will hear us when we cry out to Him for His salvation, and as we believe and trust in His Son Jesus, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and rescue us when we call upon Him.

Next time the Psalmist said Jehovah God, led them forth by the right way, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
