Jehovah God Satisfies the Longing Soul - Psalms 107:9

In Psalms one hundred seven the Psalmist said, “Oh that men would praise the LORD for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men”, and in chapter one hundred seven and verse nine of Psalms the Psalmist said Jehovah God, satisfies the longing soul where we read,

For he satisfies the longing soul, and fills the hungry soul with goodness.

The verse begins, For he satisfies the longing soul, ... The Psalmist began with the words, “for he satisfies” or “because, since and on account that he, Jehovah God, fulfills, surfeits, and satiates” “the longing soul” which means “the eager and thirsty mind, will, heart, desires, living being and seat of emotions and passions”. The Psalmist said Jehovah God satiates and fulfills the thirsty mind, will and emotions within people.

The verse goes on to say,... and fills the hungry soul with goodness. The Psalmist continued with the words, “and fills the hungry soul” or “and completes, confirms, consecrates and furnishes the mind, will, heart, desires, living being and seat of emotions and passions of the person with failing strength and desire for nourishment” “with goodness” which means “by the use of pleasantness, excellence, agreeableness and value”. The Psalmist said Jehovah God completes and furnishes the heart, mind and will of the person who desires nourishment.

When we consider the words in this verse, we see how the Psalmist said Jehovah God fulfills the thirsty mind and will of people who passionately desire to be fulfilled. Jesus said, Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled” (See Matthew 5:6), and God's desire is to bring satisfaction and wholeness to the souls of all who seek Him. God loves people, and He sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind. When we yield our lives to Him as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and satiate our passionate desire to have our souls satisfied.

Next time the Psalmist shares about people who, sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
