In the book of Song of Songs, Solomon shared how the bride said, “stay me with flagons, comfort me with apples: for I am sick of love”, and in chapter two and verse six of Song of Songs, Solomon shared how the bride shared about the groom's, “left hand” and “his right hand” where we read,
His left hand is under my head, and his right hand does embrace me.
The verse begins, “His left hand is under my head, ...” Solomon began with the words, “his left hand” or “his, the groom's, left side physical hand” “is under my head” which means “exists beneath and in the under part of my, the bride's, physical head”. Solomon shared how the bride said the physical hand on the left side of the groom was beneath her “head”.
The verse goes on to say, “... and his right hand does embrace me.” Solomon continued with the words, “and his right hand” or “and his, the groom's, right side physical hand” “does embrace me” which means “clasped and folded around me, the bride”. Solomon shared how the bride said the physical hand on the right side of the groom grasped and folded around her.
When we meditate upon Solomon's words in this verse, we learn how the bride speaks of a tender moment with the groom. He places his hands beneath her head and around her body and makes her secure in his arms. This is such a great illustration for the way Godwants to have us close to Him. He loves us, and when we yield our lives to His Son Jesus who died on the cross for the sins of all mankind, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and keep us close to Him as He provides security and protection for us in our time of need.
Next time Solomon says, “I charge you, O you daughters of Jerusalem”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
