Rise Up, My Love - Song of Songs 2:10

In the book of Song of Songs, Solomon shared how the bride said, My beloved is like a roe or a young hart: behold, he stands behind our wall, he looks forth at the windows, showing himself through the lattice”, and in chapter two and verse ten of Song of Songs, Solomon shared how the groom said, rise up, my love where we read,

My beloved spoke, and said unto me, Rise up, my love, my fair one, and come away.

The verse begins, My beloved spoke, and said unto me, ... Solomon began with the words, “my beloved spoke” or “my, the bride's, well-loved one, the groom, uttered, declared and proclaimed”, “and said unto me” which means “and uttered, declared and proclaimed to me, the bride” the following words. Solomon shared how the bride said the groom began to speak to her and declared the following words.

The verse goes on to say, ... Rise up, my love, my fair one, and come away. Solomon continued with the words, “rise up” or “arouse, arise, stand and get up”, “my love” which means “my, the groom's, well-loved bride” ,“my fair one” or “my, the groom's, beautiful, comely and pleasant one”, “and come away” which means “and depart, proceed and walk aside”. Solomon shared how the groom told his beautiful bride to arise and depart with him.

When we think through the words in this verse, we learn how Solomon shared how the bride relayed the story of the words spoken by her groom as he was looking at her through the lattice work that covered the window in the wall. He invited his well-loved bride to arise and depart with him. We shall see how the groom adds more to his words in our next verse, but let us pay close attention to this invitation to the bride from the groom. God invites us, all of us, to arise and go with Him toward the salvation He provided through His Son Jesus who died on the cross for our sins. When we yield our lives to Him, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and call us away from our station in this world to enjoy being with Him for all eternity.

Next time Solomon shares how the bride says, the winter is past, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

Until tomorrow…there is more…
