God as the Dew unto Israel - Hosea 14:5

In the book of Hosea, Hosea shared how Jehovah God said of Israel, “I will heal their backsliding, I will love them freely: for my anger is turned away from him”, and in chapter fourteen and verse five of Hosea, Hosea shared how Jehovah God said, “I will be as the dew unto Israel” where we read,

I will be as the dew unto Israel: he shall grow as the lily, and cast forth his roots as Lebanon.

The verse begins, I will be as the dew unto Israel:” Hosea began with the word, “I will be as the dew” or “I, Jehovah God, shall exist as the night mist” “unto Israel” which means “to Israel whose name means God prevails and is the name of the descendants and the nation of descendants of Jacob”. Hosea shared how Jehovah God said He would be similar to the night mist toward the people of “Israel”.

The verse continues, he shall grow as the lily, and cast forth his roots as Lebanon. Hosea added the words, “he shall grow” or “he, Israel, will bud, sprout, shoot forth and bloom” “as the lily” which means “similar and in likeness to the trumpet shaped flower or Shoshannim”, “and cast forth his roots” or “and strike, beat or smite his, Israel's, deep bottom roots” “as Lebanon” which means “similar and in likeness to Lebanon whose name means whiteness and was a wooded mountain range on the northern border of Israel”. Hosea shared how Jehovah God said “Israel” would shoot forth and sprout similar to the trumpet shaped flower and put forth their deep bottom roots similar to the cedar trees from“Lebanon”.

When we meditate upon Hosea's words in this verse, we learn how Jehovah God said He would cover “Israel” like the night mist, and they would bud and sprout similar to the trumpet like flowers and the deep roots of the cedars within“Lebanon”. In other words, God would expand, protect and provide for the people of “Israel”. God wants to cover everyone and help them “grow”, and when we humble ourselves, repent of our sins and yield to His Son Jesus who came into the world to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind,, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and put His Holy Spirit within us to guide us into all truth and to help us “grow” in our relationship with Him.

Next time Hosea shares how Jehovah God says, “his branches shall spread, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

Until tomorrow…there is more…
