In the book of Proverbs Solomon said, “The crown of the wise is their riches: but the foolishness of fools is folly”, and in chapter fourteen and verse twenty-five of Proverbs Solomon said, “a true witness delivers souls” where we read,
A true witness delivers souls: but a deceitful witness speaks lies.
The verse begins, “A true witness delivers souls:” Solomon began with the words, “a true witness” or “a person whether male or female who firmly, faithfully, surely and reliably testifies and gives evidence” “delivers souls” which means “snatches away, rescues and saves living beings who breath, have emotions and passion”. Solomon shared how a person who gives truthful and reliable evidence rescues and saves living beings with emotions and passions.
The verse goes on to say, “but a deceitful witness speaks lies.” Solomon continued with the words, “but a deceitful witness” or “however, nonetheless, notwithstanding and moreover a person whether male or female who testifies and gives evidence in a treacherous, false, feigned and subtle manner” “speaks lies” which means “breathes out, blows, blasts and utters untruths, falsehoods and deception”. Solomon said a person who testifies in a treacherous and false manner utters falsehoods and untruths.
When we meditate upon Solomon's words in this verse, we see the difference between the testimony of a person who is truthful and one who is a liar. When the truth is told, lives are rescued, however, when a person lies in their testimony, they reveal the deception within them. God is true, and He speaks the truth. He knows people are sinners, and those sins lead to eternal death and separation from Him. When He sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind, He gave us an opportunity to receive Him as our personal “Savior and Lord” which allows us to be forgiven of our sins, granted everlasting life with Him and lead into all truth by His Holy Spirit so that “souls” will be saved and lives will be changed by our truthful “witness”.
Next time Solomon says, “in the fear of the LORD is strong confidence”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
