In the book of Proverbs Solomon said to his son, “Happy is the man that finds wisdom, and the man that gets understanding. For the merchandise of it is better than the merchandise of silver, and the gain thereof than fine gold. She is more precious than rubies: and all the things you can desire are not to be compared unto her”, and in chapter three and verse sixteen of Proverbs Solomon said of wisdom, “length of days is in her right hand” where we read,
Length of days is in her right hand; and in her left hand riches and honor.
The verse begins, “Length of days is in her right hand;”. Solomon began with the words, “length of days” or “forbearance and long time periods and sunrises to sunsets” “is in her right hand” which means “exists within her, wisdom and understanding's, right hand of power, might and authority”. Solomon shared how long time periods exist within the power and authority of wisdom and understanding.
The verse continues, “and in her left hand riches and honor.” Solomon added the words, “and in her left hand” or “and within her, wisdom and understanding's, left hand side exists” “riches and honor” which means “construct, wealth and glory, honor, abundance, splendor and dignity”. Solomon said within the left side of wisdom and understanding exists wealth, glory, honor, splendor and dignity.
When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we learn how Solomon knew of other benefits to his son having wisdom and understanding. His son would live long, and he would gain wealth and splendor as he observed and obeyed wise and intelligent ways. God loves people, and He wants us to have His wisdom and understanding. He gave us His Son Jesus to die on the cross for our sins, and when we have faith and trust in Him as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and provide His wealth of blessings and honor for doings so.
Next time Solomon says of wisdom, “her ways are ways of pleasantness”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
