In the book of Proverbs Solomon said to his son, “Happy is the man that finds wisdom, and the man that gets understanding. For the merchandise of it is better than the merchandise of silver, and the gain thereof than fine gold. She is more precious than rubies: and all the things you can desire are not to be compared unto her. Length of days is in her right hand; and in her left hand riches and honor”, and in chapter three and verse seventeen of Proverbs Solomon said of wisdom, “her ways are ways of pleasantness” where we read,
Her ways are ways of pleasantness, and all her paths are peace.
The verse begins, “Her ways are ways of pleasantness, ...”. Solomon began with the words, “her ways” or “her, wisdom and understanding's, roads, paths, journeys and directions” “are ways of pleasantness” which means “exist as roads, paths, journeys and directions belonging to kindness, delightfulness, beauty and favor”. Solomon shared how paths and direction of wisdom and understanding exist with beauty and favor.
The verse goes on to say, “... and all her paths are peace.” Solomon continued with the words, “and all her paths” or “and each, every, the whole and everyone of her, wisdom and understanding's, roads, journeys and directions” “are peace” which means “exist as complete, sound, prosperous, quiet, tranquil and content”. Solomon said everyone of the roads and journeys of wisdom and understanding are quiet and tranquil.
When we think through Solomon's words in this verse, we learn how the journey and travels of a life with wisdom and understanding lean toward favor, beauty and tranquility. In other words, when Solomon's son would conduct his life in a wise and intelligent way, he would cause a lot more favor and calmness to come upon him. To act in unwise and unintelligent ways would cause Solomon's son to have more trouble and anxiety in his life. God is for us, and He loves us. He proved His love by sending His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for our sins. When we believe and trust in Him as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and give us His wisdom and understanding that so we may enjoy His favor and peaceful ways.
Next time Solomon says wisdom, “is a tree of life”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
