In the book of Proverbs Solomon said to his son, “My son, despise not the chastening of the LORD; neither be weary of his correction. For whom the LORD loves he corrects; even as a father the son in whom he delights”, and in chapter three and verse thirteen of Proverbs Solomon said, “happy is the man that finds wisdom” where we read,
Happy is the man that finds wisdom, and the man that gets understanding.
The verse begins, “Happy is the man that finds wisdom, ...”. Solomon began with the words, “happy is the man” or “blessed exists the person whether male or female” “that finds wisdom” which means “who attains, secures, acquires, meets, encounters and learns skill, shrewdness, prudence and whit”. Solomon referred to the person who attains and acquires shrewdness, prudence and skill.
The verse goes on to say, “... and the man that gets understanding.” Solomon continued with the words, “and the man” or “and the the person whether male or female” “that gets understanding” which means “who produces, obtains and secures intelligence, skill, insight, discretion and reason”. Solomon also referred to the person who obtains intelligence, discretion and insight.
When we meditate upon Solomon's words in this verse, we learn how the person who acquires prudence and whit and the person who obtains intelligence and insight exist as blessed and O how “happy”. God wants us to be blessed, and He provides “wisdom and understanding” to people who yield to His Son Jesus who died on the cross for their sins. When we surrender to Him, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and give us His skill, shrewdness, prudence, intelligence and discretion to maintain our lives and live within His presence in an “O how happy” way.
Next time Solomon says, “the merchandise of it is better than the merchandise of silver”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
