In the book of Proverbs Solomon said of wisdom, “She is a tree of life to them that lay hold upon her: and happy is every one that retains her”, and in chapter three and verse nineteen of Proverbs Solomon said, “the LORD by wisdom has founded the earth” where we read,
The LORD by wisdom has founded the earth; by understanding has he established the heavens.
The verse begins, “The LORD by wisdom has founded the earth;”. Solomon began with the words, “the LORD” or “Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name of the One True God” “by wisdom” which means “through the means of skill, shrewdness and prudence” “has founded the earth” or “fixed, established, appointed, ordained and laid the country, territory, region, district and world”. Solomon shared how Jehovah God employed skill and prudence to create the world.
The verse goes on to say, “by understanding has he established the heavens.” Solomon continued with the words, “by understanding” or “through intelligence, insight, reason, caprice and discretion” “has he established” which means “has he, Jehovah God, has made firm, fixed aright and made steadfast and secure” “the heavens” or “visible skies, abode of the stars, atmosphere and abode of Jehovah God”. Solomon said Jehovah God employed intelligence, reason and discretion to form and fashion the visible sky, atmosphere and His heavenly abode.
When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we learn how Solomon knew Jehovah God used “wisdom and understanding” to create the world, the skies, the atmosphere and His dwelling place. God is wise. God understands all things, and He desires to have a personal relationship with us through His Son Jesus who died upon the cross for our sins. When we put our faith and trust in Him as our “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and reveal His creative power to us within the world and in the “heavens” above.
Next time Solomon says, “by his knowledge the depths are broken up”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
