In Psalms one hundred twenty-seven the Psalmist said, “It is vain for you to rise up early, to sit up late, to eat the bread of sorrows: for so he gives his beloved sleep”, and in chapter one hundred twenty-seven and verse three the Psalmist said “children are an heritage of the LORD” where we read,
Lo, children are an heritage of the LORD: and the fruit of the womb is his reward.
The verse begins, “Lo, children are an heritage of the LORD:” The Psalmist began with the words, “Lo, children” or “behold, look, observe and consider, offspring and progeny” “are an heritage” which means “exist as a possession, property, inheritance, portion and share” “of the LORD” or “belonging to Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God”. The Psalmist said the offspring and posterity of people are Jehovah God's inheritance, portion and share.
The verse goes on to say, “and the fruit of the womb is his reward.” The Psalmist continued with the words, “and the fruit” or “and exist as the produce, offspring, progeny and children” “of the womb” which means “belonging to the belly and abdomen” “is his reward” or “exists as his, Jehovah God's, wage, hire, pay, fair and passage-money”. The Psalmist said children exist as a wage and passage-money from Jehovah God.
When we consider the Psalmist's words in this verse, we learn that the offspring of people are actually Jehovah God's possession. He gives them to people as His “wage” or “reward”. God is our Creator, and He provides offspring to as many as He desires. He wants all of us to be in a personal relationship with Him through His Son Jesus who was crucified on the cross for our sins, and when we yield our lives to Him as our “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and bless us with offspring according to His Divine will, purpose and plan.
Next time the Psalmist says, “as arrows are in the hand of a mighty man; so are children of the youth”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
