Glad to Go into the House of the LORD - Psalms 122:1

Psalms one hundred twenty-two begins with the phrase, “[[A Song of degrees of David.]]” which breaks down, “A Song” or “a musical or lyrical ode” “of degrees” which means “pertaining to steps, stairs and ascents” “of David” or “belonging to David whose name means blessed and was the second king of Israel”, and in chapter one hundred and twenty two and verse one of Psalms David said, “I was glad when they said unto me, Let us go into the house of the LORD” where we read,

I was glad when they said unto me, Let us go into the house of the LORD.

The verse begins, “I was glad when they said unto me, ... David began with the words, “I was glad” or “I, David, existed as rejoicing, joyful and exulted” “when they said unto me” which means “at the time and moment they, the people who surrounded David, uttered, declared and proclaimed to me, David, the following words”. David shared how he was filled with joy when people said the following things to him.

The verse goes on to say, “... Let us go into the house of the LORD. David continued with the words, “let us go” or “allow and permit us, David and his people, to walk, depart and proceed” “into the house” which means “in the dwelling place, abode and habitation” “of the LORD” or “belonging to Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God”. The people surrounding David instructed him and themselves to proceed into the dwelling place of Jehovah God.

When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we learn how David rejoiced at the time people told him and his people to make entrance into Jehovah God's dwelling place. Assembling in the place of worship of God is a privilege for everyone who desires to have a personal relationship with Him through His Son Jesus. God sent Jesus into the world to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind, and when we believe and trust in Him as our “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and fill us with rejoicing as we enter into His sacred dwelling place to worship Him. (See Hebrews (10:25)

Next time David says, “Our feet shall stand within your gates, O Jerusalem”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

Until tomorrow…there is more…
