In Psalms one hundred twenty-four David said, “Blessed be the LORD, who has not given us as a prey to their teeth”, and in chapter one hundred and twenty-four and verse seven of Psalms David said, “our soul is escaped as a bird” where we read,
Our soul is escaped as a bird out of the snare of the fowlers: the snare is broken, and we are escaped.
The verse begins, “Our soul is escaped as a bird out of the snare of the fowlers:” David began with the words, “our soul” or “our, David and his country-men's, heart, mind, will, desires, consciences, living beings and seats of emotions and passions” “is escaped” which means “exists as slipped away, delivered and saved” “as a bird” or “similar and in likeness to little bird, fowl or sparrow” “out of the snare” which means “from the bird-trap” “of the fowlers” or “belonging to those who lure, entice and set traps of wicked devices”. David said he and his fellow countrymen were delivered from the wicked people who desired to trap them like people who set traps for birds.
The verse continues, “the snare is broken, and we are escaped.” David added the words, “the snare” or “the bird-trap” “is broken” which means “is ruptured, rent violently, wrecked and crushed”, “and we are escaped” or “and we, David and his countrymen, exist as slipped away, delivered and saved”. David said the trap set by those who rose up against him and his fellow countrymen was wrecked, and he and his people were delivered from it.
When we meditate upon David's words in this verse, we see how Jehovah God came to the rescue of him and his people. David knew God was “on his side”, and because he put his faith and trust in God, He was delivered. The same may be said for anyone who will yield their lives to God's Son Jesus who came into the world to suffer and die on the cross for the sins of all mankind. When we yield our lives to Him as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and keep us safe from the traps set by those who are our foes and arise against us.
Next time David says, “our help is in the name of the LORD”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
