Salvation is Far From the Wicked - Psalms 119:155

In Psalms one hundred nineteen the Psalmist said to Jehovah God, “Plead my cause, and deliver me: quicken me according to your word”, and in chapter one hundred nineteen and verse one hundred and fifty-five of Psalms the Psalmist said, “salvation is far from the wicked” where we read,

Salvation is far from the wicked: for they seek not your statutes.

The verse begins, Salvation is far from the wicked: The Psalmist began with the words, “salvation is far from” or “deliverance, prosperity and victory exists as remote, distant and separate from” “the wicked” which means “people whether male or female who are criminal, guilty of crime, wrong, ungodly and evil”. The Psalmist declared that deliverance and prosperity are remote and distant from people who are ungodly and evil.

The verse goes on to say, “for they seek not your statutes. The Psalmist continued with the words, “for they seek not” or “because, since and on account that they, the wicked, in no way or manner resort to, inquire of, frequent, study or practice” “your statutes” which means “your, Jehovah God's, ordinances, limits, boundaries, decrees and prescribed tasks or portions”. The Psalmist said the reason “salvation is far from the wicked” is because they in no way resort to or inquire of God's boundaries and decrees.

When we think through the Psalmist's words in this verse, we learn how he understood that deliverance and rescue was distant from people who are evil and wrong, and they became this way because they did not inquire of God's decrees and ordinances. People often choose their own path without regard to what God has to say, and they do so to their own demise. God loves people, and He gave His limits and boundaries to provide for and protect them. He knew we would violate His law and that would mean our impending death. (See Romans 6:23) He sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for our sins, and when we yield to Him, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and give us His “salvation” to live with Him for all eternity.

Next time the Psalmist says, “great are your tender mercies, O LORD”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
